Separate
and
Complete

Friday, November 17th, 2006 is "Calling for World Peace Day". Thursday, November 23rd, 2006 is Thanksgiving. They are two separate days, yet two complete days of the same concept.

"Calling for World Peace Day" is a day dedicated to the active participation in the culmination of World Peace. This day has been prompted by the War in Iraq. The lose of so many lives has called for the collective voice of humanity to 'call for world peace.' So many people will be doing this in the form of speaking out against war. I would prefer to speak of the Peace from within. Thanksgiving is a day dedicated to giving thanks for all we have and all we can do.

If you merge the two together you now have a way of life, which if lived fully, is a pathway towards World Peace. Difference is it is not just one day that has been dedicated for this purpose. It is everyday.

What is the one thing that we should all be grateful for? The ability to serve….to make a difference. Everyday we wake up is an opportunity to contribute to the effort of World Peace and Humanity of Life. It is little steps that are taken that add up to huge leaps of Peace. The world has turned into a place where too many people feel they are 'too small' to be seen or heard. Each of us can leave our mark upon the world. One person can truly make a difference. It starts with the way we live our lives and just 'ripples' out from there.

Up until now I have only posted my own work upon this website. However someone else said what needs to be said here, along time ago, so beautifully I would like to quote him instead. The following is something that has touched my heart so deeply. I hope it makes your heart smile also.

St. Francis Original prayer for Peace and Oneness

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me bring love.

Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is doubt, bring your faith.

Where there is despair, hope.

Where there is darkness, bring your light.

Where there is sadness, bring your joy.

Divine Master, grant that I may not seek to be consoled as to console.

Grant that I may not seek to be understood, as to understand.

Lord, grant that I may not seek to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive.

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.

It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.

St. Francis

I don't consider myself a religious person. I am, however, filled with great faith. I do, with all my heart, believe that we all have a purpose in this life. St. Francis' words are an inspiration to me. It is not always an easy thing to do, but I have tried to live my life by these words. I am quite human, just like the rest of the world. There have been many times in my life when the world seemed to revolve around my own disastrous situation I was in. Each time this happened I reminded myself to let go of the 'high drama' associated with the situation and simply look at the facts from a detached perspective. The situation was the same but my response was different. It no longer had the ability to pull the life from me. This enabled me to shift back into a position of service. Each time I have done this the situation dissipated on its own, not necessarily overnight. We all get caught up in our circumstances from time to time. What we need to remember is there is something more compelling to be done. We ourselves can live a more peaceful life by concentrating on what we give to the world. It is a different way of life, not always accepted by the norm. I have been questioned about my concerns about my own life. People have looked at me as if I don't belong. What is most important is the smile on a strangers face…a young child realizing it's a great thing to look like Mommy because some lady said they were both beautiful…being able to look into the grateful eyes of a senior in front of me at the grocery line when they're a few cents short for their order and you just handed it to the cashier and looked at them saying the words 'thank you for letting me help'. So many little things in life cause so many huge things to happen.

World Peace comes from within. You won't find it looking out at the world. You will find conflict and arrogance there if you look hard enough. But if you look within what you will find is the seed of World Peace. This year plant that seed everyday to grow the biggest crop ever of the most needed commodity on the planet. Let us all heed the call for World Peace.

Peace be with you and your families….today and always.
