Happy Father's Day everyone....

It is our pain and our joy that makes us who we are. Yet if we weren't who we are, our children wouldn't be who they are. It is all in Divine Order for each of us is unique and offers the world exactly what we are meant to. Rejoice in the knowing of who you are and simply Live from there. A Blessed Day to you all.

This is a subject that has been front and center with me for the last couple of years. This Sunday coming is Father's Day. A day we are meant to honor our fathers.

Over the years I have seen fathers reject what their grown children try to offer as an honoring because the children didn't turn out the way they wanted them to. I have seen children totally dismiss their fathers out of lack of interest, lack of respect and lack of love.

It saddens me greatly that anyone would simply 'dismiss' another person...no matter who that other person is. Yet this is unfortunately the way at least part of the world is. Children and parents alike have hung onto old hurts and misconceptions of the other person. They have lost so much time with each other. So many treasures gone.

From the eyes of a child

When I was two and I saw you I thought...
Who is that man?
How old is he?
Is he someone I should know?
Is he a part of me?

Then at three I began to see...
He's big
He's bright
He treats Mom nice
I guess he must be alright.

And as I grew I saw through you...
He's just as scared as I am
He doesn't know what to do
No one gave us a manual
to help get us through.

I found independence and thought...
The older I got
the harder the lot
for now I have a mind of my own
but here I am...still living in his home.

So all grown up and out of the house...
To breathe so freely
To feel so completely
To have a child of my own
Lord...is this how scared he was?

Now the years have gone by...
Time has claimed another man
now needing help from another's hand
Those years have slipped on by
we lost so much...Lord please tell me why?

And who are we Lord?
And what is a father
and what is a child
but the genes of each other
shared and switched 'round.

So for this moment...
I honor him for we may not have tomorrow
For all the things he was...or wasn't
He was a learning experience for me.
From all I learned...I am content this day
for my spirit has been set free
and I thank him for all he has been and all he will ever be.

I ask each of you to look at your lives. Honor your parents, honor your children, honor yourselves. This Father's Day make memories that will last you a lifetime. Find those treasures that have been lost. Don't let them get buried again. And for those of you who are close to your fathers...how wonderful. I commend you on your love and devotion to each other.

To all the Fathers out there....may your world offer you memories to feed your soul...to carry you into your "Golden Years" and beyond.

Many Hugs
